Yale Applications / Admissions / Interviews

Rebecca Haltzel-Haas, our Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) Director, reports that the 2016-17 ASC interviewing season was a busy one.  Worldwide, Yale College received almost 33,000 applications—the highest number of applications ever submitted.  We had approximately 100 applicants from Germany, for which our alumni conducted 35 interviews.  With 7 offers of admission to the Class of 2021, the admission rate of those applicants mirrored the overall admissions rate.

Keith Light, the admissions officer responsible for applications from Germany, visited schools in Frankfurt, Berlin and Hamburg this fall.  If you would like to join the ASC and interview candidates (in person or virtually), we are always looking for additional volunteers!  You may contact Rebecca or join via the ASC website:  http://asc.yale.edu

The ASC is a network of alumni volunteers who share a passion for Yale and conduct interviews on behalf of Undergraduate Admissions with the goals of:

  1. Providing crucial information about applicants to Yale so that the admissions committee can make better decisions as it shapes the freshman class; and
  2. Establishing a Yale presence that educates the local applicants and community about Yale’s unique opportunities, values, and character.
