Munich Dialogues on Democracy

WHAT'S NEW ABOUT THE NEW AMERICAN RIGHT

Returning to Munich Dialogues on Democracy, Jan-Werner Mueller is one of the world's pre-eminent public intellectuals on all aspects of democracy. He is Roger Williams Straus Professor of Social Sciences Professor of Politics at Princeton University.

Winner of the 2019 Bavarian Book Prize, he is the author of several award-winning books, including the worldwide bestseller What is Populism? His public affairs commentary and essays regularly appear the Neue Zürcher Zeitung,  the Süddeutsche Zeitung, Le Monde, as well as in the London Review of Books, the New York Review of Books, Foreign Affairs, The Guardian, the New York Times, and Project Syndicate.

Join us on October 2nd, the day after the US vice-presidential candidates Senator JD Vance and Governor Tim Walz face off, to discuss the state of our politics and the problems with our political parties, both in Europe and in the run-up to the US elections on November 5th. We'll unpack the debate as well as the workable strategies that Prof. Mueller proposes to counter the extreme politics of our times. And plan on staying after the talk to enjoy a complimentary Oktoberfest reception!

WHEN: Wednesday , October 2nd 7pm CET

WHERE: The Theater at Amerikahaus, Karolinenplatz 3, 80333 Munich

The event will be hybrid.

Admission is free, registration is now open HERE
